For organizations that want a safer community…. and at the same
time, want to raise their company’s community profile…
Would Your Organization Like To Be Involved In Preventing
Injuries and Death to Your Employees Kids? You Can…And At The Same Time Increase Your Public Profile.
15-24 years of age are the most dangerous years in a
person’s life. Help
teens in your area make the right choices so they can survive
and thrive.
Remember when
you were invincible… or at least thought you were? It was during
your teen years and early twenties. Right? I bet you and your
friends took some silly risks. I bet some of your choices
weren’t wise. Luckily you survived those years, but many of us
have had friends, brothers or sisters who didn’t.
You don’t want to read about teens in your community who won’t
be as lucky as you.
Show
your employees their families are important to you
Teens will make
the wrong choices, and they will pay dearly for those choices.
You may know some of them. They may be your co-workers’ kids or,
heaven forbid, your own.
Let’s Help Prevent Teens From Making The Wrong
Choices

Who I Am and
Why I Wrote This Booklet and Made The Video |
|
My name is
Martin Lesperance. I’ve worked as a firefighter/paramedic
and EMT for over twenty-three years. I’ve also been speaking
on safety motivation for over ten years. Companies such as
Boeing, Excelon Nuclear Power Generation, Shell, Los Alamos
National Laboratory, Chevron, US Army National Guard,
several insurance companies and many other organizations
have heard my message. |
I’ve also
written several books including “Safety Tips That Can Save
Your Butt-Lifesaving Advice From A Firefighter/Paramedic”,
“I Won’t Be In To Work Today – Preventing Injuries At Home,
Work and Play” along with four other books.

In My Teens I
Lived a Very Exciting / Dangerous Lifestyle |
Like many of
you, at times, I took stupid chances. I was lucky. Some of
my friends died from drowning, motor vehicle collisions and
falls, and a couple of others were horribly burned while
playing with gasoline. Each one of the deaths and injuries
was unnecessary, and they all resulted from bad choices.
Now I’m the one telling the teens to be safe…
|
After some of our escapades the police and paramedics
told us we were lucky to be alive. Now I am the one
telling the teens they’re lucky to be alive after doing
some of the things they have done! I’ve been on both
sides of the fence. |

Why not give your employees kids the information they need to
make safe decisions ?
I’ve written a
great little booklet called “The Dangerous Years, 15-24 – Tips
to Help You Make It Through Them In One Piece”. It’s for teens
and people in their early twenties and covers situations they
may find themselves in many times throughout the year.
The booklet gives teenagers information to remind them to make
the right choices.

In this
professionally recorded video in front of a group of teens,
Martin gets through to them by driving the safety point home
with drama and humor. He urges his audience to take
responsibility for the choices they make, and to recognize when
some choices are just plain wrong. From skateboards to drinking
and driving, Martin has it covered. This video also talks about
adult choices, and the employer’s responsibility to protect its
workers.
This 20 minute video is a perfect fit to accompany the booklets.

The 32 page
booklet is easy to read and promotes safety and making the right
choices. There are several cartoons that help reinforce the
safety messages.
Here are the messages in the booklet:
- It’s Not
Only About Life And Death – all too often teenagers
presume if they are in an accident they will either live or
die. They fail to stop and think about the quality of life
they may be left with if injured. Taking 600 stitches to the
face and losing every tooth in their mouth, being paralyzed
from the neck down, or spending months in a burn unit are
other situations they could find themselves in.
- Driving
– what really happens to a person involved in a rollover? Why
you should really wear a seatbelt. Speed kills — it really
does.
- Alcohol
– getting so drunk that you throw up all over yourself or your
friends isn’t cool. It’s not only drinking and driving that
can get you into trouble but anything else that needs
coordination or decision-making capabilities. Did you know
that many people die after throwing up when drunk? Learn how
to prevent this from happening.
- You’ve Got
To Protect Your Head – for all ages, head injuries are the
leading cause of death due to trauma (force upon the body).
You have to protect your head. Learn what happens to your
brain and how your life can be changed if you think you are
too cool to wear a helmet or hard hat.
- Spinal
Injuries Do More Than Kill – Learn what your spinal cord
does, how it can be injured and how permanent the injury is.
Also learn how your independence may end as a result of a
spinal cord injury.
- Flipping
The Bird Can Be Flipping Dangerous – Every year people die
or are seriously injured because they decided to challenge
someone or accept a challenge from someone else to fight. It
just isn’t worth it. You may win the fight but still lose out
on life.
- You Are
Not A Lemming – It’s tough dealing with peer pressure, but
you have to realize if you follow your friends’ risky behavior
you can be hurt. Think before you blindly follow your friends.
You do have your own brain, use it!
- It’s Your
Choice – making the wrong choices now can rob you of the
opportunity of making your own choices for the rest of your
life. If you are seriously injured, the nursing staff will be
making your choices for you, such as when you go to bed, when
you get up, what you eat and even when you go to the bathroom.
Each one of the
chapters is a very easy read with cartoons. The reader will be
able to relate to each safety message.

Your Organization Can Get Great PR By Putting These Booklets
Into
The Hands Of Teens In Your Community
Maybe your
organization gives back to the community already. Maybe you
already help out the teens. But don’t you think a teen’s
safety is his or her most important priority…. even more so than
scholarships? I know the teens and their parents would
agree
